Highlights
• Visualizing energy flow/conversion through a system of color gradients, particle dynamics, and lighting effects
• Fresnel effects and layered post-compositing used to expose and communicate the internal workings of the ORC generator
Challenges
The primary challenge was visualizing a highly complex system in a way that remains easy to understand. The density of moving components, combined with numerous pipes and flow paths required a balance of reducing visual complexity while preserving technical accuracy and readability.
Constraints
• A highly complex model that was not originally optimized for animation, combined with a tight production timeline
• A short runtime that required multiple processes to be communicated clearly and efficiently
• Intellectual property constraints that restricted full disclosure of the system’s patented components
