Challenges
The laser format requires a very different production approach than traditional animation. Since a laser can only display a limited number of lines, each design had to be created in a way that delivered as much character and expression as possible with very limited detail.
Constraints
Point Limit
The laser hardware allowed only 1500 points per frame, which significantly restricted the amount of detail and required careful design choices.Long Runtime
The extended length of the music show demanded a large number of assets and animations, all optimized for laser playback.Thematic Consistency
All graphics and motion needed to match the themes and mood of the music, which added creative boundaries to both design and animation.
